Shem Creek Bar and Grill opened for business on July 3, 1984. It started as a very small place and has since expanded many times. There is now a staff of close to 100, with three full-time managers’ "front-of-the house", one chef manager and two kitchen managers "back of the house". Shem Creek Bar and Grill is the oldest and seats the most people. It can, at times, be very busy, hectic, exciting - not often boring. SCB&G has some loyal staff. There is a strong local trade as well as tourists. (Open year-round, seven days a week, lunch and dinner; Brunch on Sunday)
In May 1990, the Banana Cabana opened. It is located underneath the One-Eyed Parrot and is the most casual of all the restaurants. However beach the environment, the restaurant is serious about the food. It features a large and varied menu with emphasis on the Caribbean/Mexican-Spanish cuisine of southern Florida. The Banana Cabana offers a large array of appetizers, sandwiches, quesadillas, seafood platters and steaks. We take pride in their reasonably priced, generous, tasty food. It features indoor and outdoor seating, and a large oceanfront yard for children to play. (Open 7 days a week, year-round, continuously serving from 11:30 a.m.)
